Position:

Security School Liaison at Ruidoso High School

Qualifications:

* High school diploma or GED required.

* Submit to and pass a background check.

* A minimum of 2-3 years of highly successful related experience preferred.

* Actively patrolling school property is critical in securing the building and maintaining a safe environment for students and staff.

* Applicants must be able to walk or stand for long periods (up to 8 hours) and quickly ascend/descend stairs; be able to work in outdoor environments.

* Knowledge of the RHS school handbook.

* Knowledge of basic methods of providing site security and safety (CPI training preferred and may be offered).

* Ability to work with adolescents in maintaining a positive and safe school culture

* Ability to read and adhere to written and oral instructions.

* Proficient with teamwork and collaborating with colleagues and administration.

* Exhibit passion and the ability to thrive amidst change and challenging conditions while maintaining a positive outlook and forward looking perspective.

* Possess an attuned appreciation for cultural awareness, competency, and a staunch commitment to develop insight and proficiencies related to such matters.

* Takes personal responsibility for mistakes and learns from them, while consistently following up with analysis and corrective action.

* Demonstrated ability to keep up with fast-paced environments and to multi-task.

* Sound judgment and ethical practice.

* Commitment to social justice and restorative justice practices.

* Strong oral communication skills, human relations and interpersonal skills.

* Ability to write incident reports.

* Impeccable attendance and punctuality.

* Strong organizational skill.

Responsibilities:

* Monitor Hallways/Campus both for security and behavior purposes.

* Patrol (foot) and monitor school property for unauthorized persons.  If needed, redirect or escort from property.

* Monitor school grounds and school entrances to ensure only authorized personnel and authorized visitors access the school; ensure all guests follow visitor protocol and politely triage visitor requests.

* Actively participate in professional development training to ensure ongoing growth and to advance skills.

* Build positive and professional relationships with students and leverage those relationships to establish and maintain productive and safe learning environments and common areas in the building.

* Exercise dignity and respect when interacting with students at all times.

* Lead efforts to de-escalate inappropriate student behaviors and assist students with maximizing their time on task in classrooms.

* Serve as a primary participant in emergency response during crises, including but not limited to fire and active shooter incidents.

* Report unusual activity or suspicions of safety issues to the administration in a timely fashion.

* Complete proper documentation related to incident reports and misconduct reports.

* Perform various duties as assigned (lunch, before school, after school).

* Manage parking - Collect and process parking applications, issue-parking permits, issue early release permits, etc.

* Fulfill duties assigned related to Hall Sweeps and searches.

* Assist administration as needed - witness searches, monitor waiting students, etc.

* Supervise ISS or detention as assigned.

* Set up for home games.

* Other duties as assigned.

a. Required to lift or carry classroom supplies, textbooks, furniture, and equipment to a minimum of 35 pounds;

b. Required to maintain composure and avoid inappropriate displays of emotion;

c. Required to sit, stand, bend, stoop, reach, grab, pull, hear, see, and speak on a regular basis;

d. Required to perform repetitive physical tasks such as computer keyboarding, writing, and reading;

e. Required to monitor students in a variety of locations including those with noise, activity, inclement weather;

f. A major physical requirement is sitting, walking, and standing;

g. Flexibility of bending and twisting at the neck and truck are a regular requirement;

h. Occasional travel in school owned or leased vehicles while supervising and assisting students may be required.
