Position:

Counselor at Ruidoso High School

Qualifications:

* Valid NM Public Education Department Counseling License or eligibility.

*Successful counseling experience pertaining to high school students.

* High degree of knowledge of state and federal regulations pertaining to high school.

 

* High degree of knowledge about program offerings, both high school and Early College Academic.

* Knowledge of Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports (PBIS).

* Must demonstrate a willingness to work positively in a cooperative working environment.

* Strong reading, written, verbal and interpersonal skills.

*Work with adminsitration SAC, and counseling team to create a master schedule.

 

Responsibilities:

* Coordinate programs such as, but not limtied to, 504, SAT, AP , OJT Internships, Graduation.

* Provide guidance and degree planning to student in th eEarly College Academy.

*Work With Student to develop Next step plans that align with individual post-secondary goals.

*Assist with lunch duty as assigned.

*Willingness to help club,sports, and activity sponsor with student information,activity emplementation.

* To provide student services that will ensure mental and emotional safety for high school students.

* Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records.

* Supervise all secondary testing requirements (state, national).

* Assist students in scheduling classes.

* Interpret transcripts from other high schools for transferring students.

*Individual advisement bas on student individual post-secondary goals.

* Counseling for intervention purposes.

* Maintain files to provide students with information on in state and out-of-state colleges.

* Work productively as part of a team.

* Other duties as assigned.

 

* Physical and Environmental Requirements:

a. Required to lift or carry classroom supplies, textbooks, furniture, and equipment to a minimum of 35 pounds;

b. Required to maintain composure and avoid inappropriate displays of emotion;

c. Required to sit, stand, bend, stoop, reach, grab, pull, hear, see, and speak on a daily basis;

d. Required to perform repetitive physical tasks such as computer keyboarding, writing, and reading;

e. Required to monitor students in a variety of locations including those with noise, activity, inclement weather;

f. Sitting, walking, standing are a regular requirement;

g. Flexibility of bending and twisting at the neck and truck are a regular requirement;

h. Occasional travel in school owned or leased vehicles while supervising and assisting students may be required.
